Well-being of Future Generations Act

In 2015, Wales passed the “Well-being of Future Generations Act” and since then has diligently produced governance guidance for individuals and groups who wish to participate in developing policies and procedures and in their implementation. In an governmental website describing what Wales is attempting to do under the aegis of the act (see https://www.futuregenerations.wales/about-us/future-generations-act/ ), they present seven well-being goals, most of which are very similar to those described in “Our Ethical Imperative.” The latest updates on their progress is here: https://gov.wales/wellbeing-wales It is gratifying to see this sort of legislation and follow-through, and although the creator of the O & E website was aware of a focus on well-being by Wales, it is unfortunate that this exemplary legislation was not encountered by the O & E website author until today, and it is much more profoundly unfortunate that the act has yet to be widely replicated in many other nations. The U.N. may be seeking to emulate this legislation with an impactful U.N. Declaration.
